Kaisha S. Huguley is an actress with a rapidly expanding presence on the performing arts scene. She is an exciting and enjoyable artist who is dedicated to using her artistic talents to make a lasting impact. Kaisha is currently training as a student in the Musical Theatre Conservatory Program at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City. Prior to moving to New York City, Kaisha took the stage as Hattie on the Block in the stage production Women of Plums, an award winning poetry book by DC Poet Laureate Dolores Kendrick. This performance was sponsored by the DC Commission of the Arts & Humanities and took place at DC’s Historic Lincoln Theatre.
Prior to taking the stage as Hattie, Kaisha played the lead character (Monique Freeman) in Beneath the Surface, performed in the musical How to be the Perfect Wingwoman (Stevie), and performed as a central and supporting character in Voices the Play (Barbara Birdette/Egon). Recently, she has also had the opportunity to be cast in several commercials with companies like Double Tree by Hilton, Toyota, and the U.S. Department of Navy.
In October 2015, Kaisha produced and directed her own artist showcase, entitled A Legacy for our Daughters. Her artist showcase displayed the broad range of Kaisha's craft through her portrayals of several well-known female characters and historical figures. The event also featured the debut of the narrative short, #RegalNotRatchet (also self-directed). #RegalNotRatchet was selected to be screened during the 2015 Freedom Film Festival in New Orleans, LA and won the award for Best Social Media Film.
In addition to being an actress, Kaisha is also an entrepreneur, influencer, and content creator. She is the CEO/Founder of Kai Hugs & Company, LLC, a company she founded with a purpose to teach, entertain, and most importantly, empower audiences through a variety of mediums such as performances, online training, workshops, and coaching/mentoring opportunities.
Kaisha is also a dynamic and engaging motivational speaker. In addition to hosting workshops for adult women, she has spoken at various schools around the Washington Metropolitan area, specifically to discuss women's issues. She is insistent that her creative and artistic talents be used not only on the stage or on screen, but to deliver empowering messages to young girls and women.
Introduced to liturgical dance at a young age, Kaisha's first love has always been dance and movement. Dancing at church was a large part of her life growing up, and she has continued to minister the Word of God in this dynamic way. She is the lead choreographer for the Yadah Dance Ministry at Judah Temple AME Zion Church in Bowie, MD where she also occasionally ministers as a soloist.
In addition to her life as a performing artist, Kaisha's career is strengthened by her commitment to remaining educated about her craft. She earned her Master's degree in Arts Management from George Mason University in 2013. In June 2017, Kaisha will be moving to New York City to attend the American Musical and Dramatic Academy where she was competitively accepted into their Musical Theatre Conservatory Program.
Kaisha continues to acquire valuable knowledge and tools, which she uses to reach an ever-growing audience. She has built successful social media platforms and gained a faithful following on Instagram and YouTube. Her social media platforms combined have reached over 250,000 views. In fact, using their combined creative and comedic talents, Kaisha and her now husband Quinton produced a series of YouTube videos for a wedding contest, ultimately winning the grand prize: an $80,000 wedding from Arena Stage in Washington, D.C.
Although Kaisha enjoys transforming into many characters on stage and wears many hats behind the camera, her appreciation for the real life roles she plays, as a wife and a woman of faith, is what drives her. She stands on a strong foundation of family and faith, and it is from these roots that she has found purpose in her work and in her art. She is a true businesswoman, dedicated to achieving her goals...but her family, friends, and faith allow her to remain grounded and to appreciate the simple joys of life.
Kaisha is a fun-loving soul, quick to laugh, and with an infectious and engaging personality to match. She enjoys spending time with her husband, doesn't skip a week without eating salmon and asparagus, and believes that musicals are the only appropriate complement to a rainy day at home, snuggling under the covers!
